Wish Lists

Well, a week has now passed since the inaugural Grand Prix Masters Race and there is a air of excitement and anticipation about the future of the sport. From potential tracks to driver wish lists, there has defiantly been a lot of talk of the future. Here at GPMO we though we would do our bit so we thought it would be a good idea to create our own driver wish list and Grand Prix Masters rating:

Gerhard Berger
Nationality: Austria
Date of birth: August 27, 1959

With over 385 points, 210 races and 12 wins Berger would be a great addition to the series. Furthermore, Berger is no longer head of BMW's competition program. We have given Berger a masters rating of 3/5.

Mario Andretti
Nationality: United States of America
Date of birth: February 28, 1940 - Montona, Italy

Mario’s life story read more like a Hollywood script and will probably be written one day. 180 points, 149 races, 12 wins and 1 F1 drivers title in 1978. All this as well as winning Champ Car 4 times and the Indy 500 in 1969 the list goes on. However, he vowed never to race after a big accident in 2003 but could he be tempted on more time? We have given Andretti a maters rating of 5/5.

Niki Lauda
Nationality: Austria
Date of birth: February 22, 1949 - Vienna, Austria

Niki truly understands the highest heights and the lowest lows. 420.5 points, 171 races, 25 wins and 3 F1 Titles in 1975, 1977 and 1984. He would have won the title in 1976. However, to be given the last rites by a priest after a massive accident and comeback later in the year and lose by 1 point is just too unbelievable to read. We have given Lauda a maters rating of 5/5.

Jody Scheckter
Nationality: South Africa
Date of birth: January 29, 1950 – London

With over 246 points, 112 races, 10 wins and 1 F1 title in 1979 Scheckter has an impressive CV. In his early days he was considered to be one of the hottest talents of his era, with exceptional car control along with great bravery he quickly found himself in a Mclaren race seat. Unfortunately if he was going to drive a Grand Prix Masters race he would probably taken the plunge at the first race in his native country. We have given Scheckter a maters rating of 4/5.

Our list could go on and on and you probably have your own thoughts too. However, if the series is a success it will be needless to say that they could even be a waiting list of drivers itching to get behind the wheel again.
