Scott Poulter put pen to paper today and secured a deal that will see the Grand prix Masters race around the streets of Bucharest . The race will take place between the dates of the 17 th and the 20 th May. The street circuit has been designed by F1 track architect Herman Tilke.
After signing the contract Adriean Videanu, the mayor of Bucharest said “These kind of events will become traditional in Bucharest and I want to thank all the people who are implicated in the organisation. We will not invest public money in this event; however, we will rent the public
places to the promoter of Bucharest Challenge 2007. The promoter is the one who will invest in this project and the promoter will pay a rental fee for using the public places and for all the modification that will be made before and after the race. It’s a great pleasure for me also that finally we will have a big motor sports event in Bucharest .”
Scott Poulter, CEO Grand Prix Masters, also added “The race from Bucharest is the first one on a street circuit and I’m certain that it will have a huge success. After the first estimations, on some sections of the track the speed will be around 300 km/h. I’m sure that all the drivers that compete in the Grand Prix masters will be glad to come to Bucharest ”
After looking at the initial layout of the proposed track it will certainly add a new dimension to Grand Prix Masters racing with its long straights and mix of slow and fast corners it will surly be a race not to be missed.
