It is with great regret Grand Prix Masters Online has to announce that a petition to wind up the company behind the Grand Prix Masters series will be presented at London's High Court in November.
The action is being taken by GPM's chassis supplier Delta Special Projects. It will be heard at the Royal Courts of Justice on 28 November this year.
GP Masters 1 st raced in November 2005 in Kyalami in front of record crowds. Unfortunetley
GP Masters have been blighted with bad luck after bad luck. The 2006 race at Monza Italy was the first race to be effected when local court action meant that some races had to be cancelled due to noise pollution. Furthermore, the race at Silverstone later that year was hit by engine problems that could have put the whole race weekend in doubt but the engine supplier at the time Nicholson Mclaren worked hard to fix the design fault and rectified the problem. Unfortunately the lest race of the season in South Africa was scuppered by issues that arose from the race promoter who wanted to switch the even from Kyalami to Durban. 2007 seemed to get off to a good start with the announcement of a new race on the streets of Bucharest the track was designed by F1 track designer Herman Tilke. Unfortunetly, again due to issues with the Bucharest race promoter GP masters involvement in the race had to be pulled.

Andrew Cranswick (GPMO Chief Editor) “I think it's a real shame that it has come to this. The GP Masters had such a great start in Kyalami (2005) and it looked like the start of something good but a race series can live without races and the problems that GP Masters have suffered have realistically been out of their control. It just goes to show that even the best laid plans “and believe me the plans were laid well” can fail. |

What I would like to say though is that you never know what the future holds and a new organisation may come along and want to relaunch the GP Masters idea. |
