Nearly 9 weeks after Fernando Alonso won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone the normally sleepy village of Silverstone in Northampton UK will once more come to life with F1 stars and race fans for the second time in twelve months. Silverstone has now been the home of British motor sport for just under 20 years. However, previous to this the grand prix has been held at Brands Hatch, Donington, Aintree and Brooklands.

Silverstone is widely accepted to by drivers and fans to be one of the most thrilling circuits in the world. With a mix of high speeds corners and long straights the track is a

real test of man and machine, because of this Silverstone has a history of delivering some of the most thrilling races in motor sport history.

On the 13 th August some of the most famous faces with take to the grid in their Delta Motor sport deigned Grand Prix Masters cars. Whilst many of the drivers will be fancying their chances due to all the cars been the same in design and engine output. However, two drivers in particular will be up for a win. Brazil ’s Emerson Fittipaldi and the UK ’s Nigel Mansell will be looking to draw from their previous winning experiences at the Northampton circuit. Fittipaldi won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1974 whilst Mansell has won 3 Grand prix at Silverstone in 1987, 1991 and 1992. Although, both drivers have also won the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. Only time will tell us who will take the chequered flag but who ever takes the grand prize the real winners will be the race fans. as the day will undoubtedly be an excellent racing spectacle for all to see.

When Mansell last won Silverstone 1992 it saw Mansell Mania at its best with hundreds of fans spilling on to the track to show their appreciation to “Our Nige”, the likes that have never been seen since. However, on August the 13 th we just may see scenes like this again.
