The 1992 F1 world champion Nigel Mansell said today he would relish the opportunity to go wheel to wheel with Damon Hill in the Grand Prix Masters race at Silverstone later this month. Hill walked away from Formula 1 at the end of a dispiriting 1999 season with Jordan and vowed never to race again.

In the years since turning his back on F1 hill has concentrated on his business interests. However, He recently admitted he was tempted by the prospect of rekindling his competitive

instincts in the GP Masters series.

Mansell, said “Hill's participation would be a big boost to the fledgling series”, which was launched late last year. “Somebody with the calibre of Damon joining the series would be fantastic,” Mansell told Motorsport News.

“I hope he doesn’t get cold feet."
