We got to a rain sodden track in good time but there were already cars queuing to get into the circuit. However, as most cars were turning to the left and right we were instructed to drive straight ahead, this took us over Bridge and I recall thinking “this is a most bizarre moment”as the Thoroughbred GP cars were going directly underneath us as they were on there practice laps. I could not believe that I was driving over Bridge, it was another special moment. We were directed into our car park for the day where we parked between a Ferrari and a Porsche, bearing in mind that we had arrived in a 2003 Ford Fiesta diesel 1.8
Part 2 (Pits, Media And Book Launches)
Having made our way to the International Media Centre we signed in and were lucky enough to get a desk at the front where we made ourselves at home and unpacked the laptop. Around us were media and press from all around the world and as far as Japan . The Media Centre itself was really smart and high tech with free Wi-Fi connection with row upon row of TV screens. At the back of the Media Centre was where all the weekends press releases were laid out including a press release from Nicholson Mclaren playing down the engine issues that has been experienced.

After around half an hour I decided to go walk about and head toward the pits which were directly below us. I proceed downstairs and was promptly sent back up the Media Centre for not wearing the appropriate colour bib. However, after securing my bib I was let directly into the pits where I was free to roam just about anywhere. The GP masters cars had just come in from their morning practice so there was drivers around by the bucket load.
With drivers giving interviews left right and centre and this I was too nervous to ask any drivers for an interview directly, I proceeded to stick my mic in, in true a journalist style in to other people’s interviews for the time being .
After a while I noticed that the drivers were starting to disappear, it was at this moment when I noticed many of the pits had barriers down the side to let people with paddock passes catch a glimpse of the cars and if they were very lucky maybe a driver. Some of the queues were massive and anyone in the queue was kept well away from getting too close to the action. This was the point when it really did dawn on me that I really was in a privileged position.
I decided to take a look at the paddock side so I made my way to the paddock by going under a barrier and asking the patiently queuing folk to let me through. As I left the back of the Team
